The comments followed a report by Taiwan’s Next Magazine, which claimed a Foxconn manager was detained because he sought bribes from suppliers.
These accusations have added to a troubled image in the press following a series of allegations over poor working conditions aimed at Foxconn in recent years. The company, which manufactures products for Apple, Panasonic and Samsung, moved to assure customers and investors that it was looking in to the matter, but work was otherwise proceeding unaffected.
The company told reporters that Chairman Terry Gou had ordered an internal investigation and a review of its anti-bribery guidelines on procurement.
“Our employees and suppliers involved are being investigated, we will make announcements once there is a legal outcome,” Hon Hai said in a statement issued late on Wednesday.
Hon Hai said many of the details in the Next Magazine report were “false”, but did not detail them. Hon Hai did not say how long it had been under investigation, and did not say if any of its executives had been arrested.
