Global military MRO spend to hit $41bn in 2013

According to Visiongain’s latest estimates, values the global MRO market will remain strong during at least the next decade as countries continue to boost military aircraft MRO spending in a bid to maximise the value of legacy aircraft.

A Visiongain defence analyst stated: “Maintenance, repair and overhaul  services for military aircraft will continue to remain vital over the next decade – ensuring air forces are able to maximise the capabilities of their fixed-wing aircraft platforms.

“In the midst of defence budget cuts, the life-cycle extension of many older and ageing legacy aircraft platforms puts greater emphasis on effective maintenance provisions, whilst new aircraft developments in fighter and transport aircraft, creates an opportunity for investment in advanced technological MRO support.”

The Visiongain report, Global Military Aircraft Maintenance, Repair & Overhaul (MRO) Market 2013-2023, predicts that there will be “significant” operational cut backs over the next few years that will impact upon the market: “However the constant demand for MRO services will ensure the industry will continue to develop increased networks, procedures and structures, particularly within many emerging markets.”
