Kone revs up European procurement deal

Under the terms of the agreement, the French automotive company willl provide a full range of vehicles to Kone in several European countries for three years starting 2013.

According to Kone, it selected Renault for its wide product lineup including the electric vehicles, the total cost of ownership of its products, and the sales network quality and density. The highest procurement volumes are expected in France, Russia, Spain, Belgium and Sweden.

In France, through the agreement, Renault estimates it will become the core supplier for Kone with approximately 800 vehicles per year, all delivered by Renault Retail Group Nice. Some 30% of the vehicles will be passenger cars and 70% light commercial vehicles.

Kone added that the focus of the agreement will be put on low emission vehicles. The product range stretches from passenger cars in the A to the D segment and commercial vehicles, including electric models.

The contract will last until end of 2015.
